This activity was designed to provide an endlessly random assortment of electronic prescriptions that must be entered into the pharmacy computer system.
Because prescription information like patient name, drug name, SIG, and quantity are randomly generated, the prescriptions are not realistic in terms of actual doses, SIGs, treatment durations, or controlled substance limitations.
Click "View Next eRx" to pull up an eRx to be entered into the system.
Select information from drop-down lists and enter values into the appropriate fields in the green data entry boxes.
Some information requires a button to be pushed to load its information.
There is no drug substitution. Always dispense the same drug as prescribed (whether a brand or generic product).
When calculating days supply, always round down.
For ophthalmic or otic drops, start with the the verb "Place" rather than "Instill". For calculating days supply, use 20 drops per mL.
For SIG quantity, use numeric values (e.g. "Take 4 tablets...") rather than words (e.g. "Take four tablets...").
For SIG frequency, use "once daily", "twice daily", etc. rather than "2 times a day" or "3 times a day", etc.
Data entered will be placed adjacent to the corresponding prescription information.
Once all prescription data has been entered, click "Submit Data Entry as Correct" button.
If an error has been made, it will be indicated next to the button.
If all answers are correct, an alert box will indicate so and the prescription will be cleared.
To complete the activity and get a completion code, 5 prescriptions must by correctly entered into the pharmacy system.
