Instructions
Review the PDMP report for the selected patient.
Make note of how many different classes of drugs were dispensed (polydrug use). Also, note how many different prescribers (doctor shopping) and pharmacies (polypharmacy) were used to obtain controlled substance prescriptions.
The PDMP report will indicate the MEDD (morphine equivalent daily dose) of each prescription. However, calculate an average MEDD for the entire report as this can help identify high risk patients (> 90 MME/day) from intermediate risk patients (50-90 MME/day).
Enter values for each of the boxes in the report.
Values include numbers of benzodiazepine, simulant, muscle relaxant, and opioid prescriptions as well as the total number of prescriptions, prescribers, and pharmacies in the report.
Calculate and enter the average MEDD (rounded to nearest whole number).
If the values entered are correct, the box will lock and the space around it change COLOR.
If the values entered are wrong, the space around the box will turn RED. Please re-enter the correct value.
Adjust the slider to an appropriate level of patient risk (low, intermediate, high) based on factors including potential polydrug use, doctor shopping, polypharmacy, and average MEDD.
Click Completion Code button check answers.
If all answers are correct, a completion code will be displayed.
If an error has been made, it will be indicated next to the button.
