Instructions:
View each warning alert by clicking on the Show Alert button.
Review information as necessary in order to determine the significance of the alert.
For this simulation, no additional patient information is necessary to make an informed decision about the alerts significance.
Answering YES (override alert)
Means you disregard the warning because it is not clinically significant.
The prescription will be processed and dispensed to the patient.
Answering NO (do not override alert)
Means the warning is clinically significant and justifies stopping the filling process until the prescriber can be contacted.
The prescription will NOT be processed at this time.
Note: it is wrong to unnecessarily stop the filling process, especially if an alert is not clinically significant.
Click on the appropriate YES or NO button. The box next to the Show Alert button will change to COMPLETED.
You CAN NOT change your answer once it is submitted!
When you have addressed all five alerts:
Type your name in the box, documenting the pharmacist responsible for all decisions.
Click the Grade and Print Completion Certificate button.
Your score will be shown on the certificate to be printed.
Note: if you score less than 5, you can refresh the page and try again. Remember, once the page is refreshed you will get a completely different set of warning alerts to evaluate.
